ED510 Journey: Week 2

 Week 2:

During the first two weeks of ED510: Technology for Teaching and Training, the focus has been on exploration, experimentation, and getting comfortable in new digital spaces. We began developing our ePortfolio webpage while working through Module One concepts that emphasize using technology intentionally to support learning.

One of the most meaningful experiences so far has been working with Canva and developing an instructional infographic. As I worked through the assignment, I realized that my initial approach, while well-intentioned, veered away from the rubric and expectations of the project. This resulted in creating an infographic that did not fully align with the assignment requirements, which required me to step back, reassess, and start over.

That process was challenging, but it was also valuable. Each iteration of the infographic took less time to complete, and the revisions forced me to focus more on clarity, alignment, and purpose. It became clear that ambition and creativity are important, but they must be balanced with clearly defined objectives. In this case, prioritizing clarity and alignment ultimately strengthened the final product.

Another valuable takeaway this week was learning how to create better hyperlinks within my webpage—linking directly to specific locations rather than general websites. This small change made a noticeable difference in clarity and usability and is something I can immediately apply in my own teaching materials.

Overall, these first two weeks have involved a lot of learning through exploration and hands-on practice. While some aspects were challenging, the experience has been engaging and reinforced the importance of designing technology-rich instruction that is purposeful, aligned, and meaningful.
